What is the domovní kniha and who must keep it?

The domovní kniha (guest register or accommodation book) is a legally required record that every accommodation provider in the Czech Republic must maintain under Act No. 326/1999 Coll. (the Foreigners Act). It applies to hotels, guesthouses, apartments, Airbnb hosts — anyone providing paid accommodation.

Required information for each guest:

• Date and place of birth
• Travel document number and type
• Nationality
• Home address
• Dates of arrival and expected departure

Retention: Records must be kept for 6 years from the last entry and made available to the foreign police upon request.
